Service Description

Health & Safety is paramount to the success of any construction project. At Kartar we provide expert Health a Safety advice to undertake the role of Construction Design Management Coordinator (CDMC), which confers legal obligations on the Client under Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 (CDM). 


Client's main duties (but not limited to) under CDM 2007 include: 
Check competence and resources of all appointees I Ensure there are suitable management arrangements for the project welfare facilities I Allow sufficient time and resources for all stages I Provide pre-construction information to designers and contractors I Appoint a CDM Coordinator I Appoint a Principal Contractor I Provide information relating to the health and safety file to the CDM co-ordinator I Retain and provide access to the health and safety file. 


From the outset, it is extremely important to appoint a CDM Coordinator, in order to facilitate communication between the design team members, to eliminate any potential hazards and provide best possible solutions prior to any commencement of works on site, as any concerns that are not addressed during the design stages may result in costly variations to the project as a whole. 
For some Clients, understanding what is required of them under CDM 2007 can be ambiguous, however, one of the obligations of a CDM Coordinator is to advise and assist the Client with their obligations and duties, hence the need for a CDM Coordinator.
